Bradford City’s first season in the Premiership 1999-2000
Bradford City are my home town team, I have always dreamed of supporting a Premiership League team and on the 9th May 1999, the dream came true.
Whilst waiting for the team to arrive back at Valley Parade that happy afternoon in May, I thought about photographing the club’s first glorious season in the Prem, previously I never took a camera to a game.
The football photographs I have always liked are those that look away from the action on the pitch and look towards the fans.
This is what I attempted to do.
I found this transition from fan to photographer from spectator to observer a difficult one, I get too involved in the event, but so what ! I will always be a fan first, a photographer second.
